Report on number of infected humans (H1N1)

Pandemiplan.comPosted by Mats Espander Tue, May 12, 2009 23:42:55

CDC - reports 3009 infected in the US to date

WHO - reports 5251 infected worldwide

ECDC - reports 210 infected in EU/EFTA countries

There are now a little more than 30 countries affected (with confirmed cases)

As the number in the US have raised dramatically during the last 7 days whith herds of infected in some states there are still reasons to be concearned.

The illnes is mild and sensitive to antivirals (Relenza and Tamiflu) -

on the other hand a pandemic would have major effects on society and economics as:

1 Approx 25% of the population will be infected (WHO calculations) focus on 15-50yr of age

2 Another 15% (totals 40%) will stay home from work/school

3 The illness will stay in country for 6-8 weeks

The best weapon against the consequences are knowledge and awareness which helps companies and vital functions withins society to maintain function and minimize losses.

The survival of the fittest!
